DescriptionThis comprehensive course is designed to dramatically increase your musical horizons. It will take you from little to no knowledge of written music, to being able to read and interpret music.
It will thoroughly cover a variety of subjects including:
Understanding clefs in music and how they are necessary to indicate desired pitch on a stave.
Understanding major and minor scales, and quick and easy "tricks" to identify and create diatonic scales. We'll consider what a scale actually is and how it is constructed.
Identifying key signatures and how they relate to what scale the piece is centred around. We'll look at the order of sharps and the order of flats as they appear in the key signature, what scales or "key" these relate to, and more quick and easy tricks to identify the key of a piece using the key signature.
Interpreting time signatures and understanding how each beat of the bar is divided based on the time signature. We'll look at the three common kinds of time in music: Duple time, triple time, and quadruple time, for which there are both simple and compound groupings of each.
