We look at Quickbooks Online for the UK Self Employed. This version is different from Quickbooks Online's other versions - starter, essential and plus. If you are self employed and NOT registered for VAT, then this version of Quickbooks is appropriate for you. It has less functionality than the other versions, but it's cheaper and its sufficient for what you need it to do, and (most importantly) the figures feed into the tax return, so that you have the numbers you need to then input onto your HMRC Tax Return. This software will save you a lot of time, effort and energy vs a spreadsheet or whatever paper system or non-system that you may have at the moment when trying to run your business.

QBO for the self-employed can send invoices, connect to your bank, automate a lot of processes, and give you a running total of your estimated tax bill for the year. One of the handiest features of this app (which you can access from your PC or a phone) is that if you have a bank account that you're using for both business AND personal transactions, this software allows you to separate the two types and exclude those things that have nothing to do with the business.
