Why is the world the way that is is now? How did it get to be this way, and how will it change in the future? What fundamental changes are upon us, and how will this affect me?

A paradigm is a way of looking at the world, and a way of acting in the world. We live our lives according to fundamental paradigms in our society: what we eat, how we work, how we consume, how we travel... Recognizing and understanding these paradigms allows us to understand the world around us, and the fundamental changes that we are going through.
