Azure File Sync is a service that allows you to cache a number of Azure file shares on an on-premises Windows Server or cloud VM.

Featuring numerous detailed hands-on demonstrations, this step-by-step course will teach you how to deploy deploy Azure File Sync and then how to migrate to it from DFS-R.

We will complete the following tasks:

• PREPAREFORAZUREFILESYNC: We’ll kick things off with "Preparing for Azure File Sync", where we will complete some prerequisite steps that are necessary to prepare for the deployment of Azure File Sync.

• BEGINAZUREFILESYNCDEPLOYMENT: In "Begin the Azure File Sync Deployment", you'll learn how to begin the deployment of Azure File Sync as part of the migration away from an existing DFS-R environment.

• COMPLETETHEDEPLOYMENT: As we move through the course, we’ll dive into "Completing the Azure File Sync Deployment", where I'll walk you through the completion of the Azure File Sync deployment for a fictional organization, called Berks Bikes.

• RETIREDFS-R REPLICATION: We’ll then move into "Confirming Functionality and Retiring DFS-R", where we’ll ensure things are working as they should. We'll confirm data is syncing, and that permissions are syncing as well. We'll close things out by enabling Cloud Tiering, which improves file access times for end users.

By the time you finish this course, you’ll have an understanding of what’s involved in a migration from DFS-R to Azure File Sync.
