Folklore (referred to as “Alo” in Yoruba Language) can be described as the traditional beliefs, customs, and stories of a community or event, passed through the generations by word of mouth.

There are many great folklores in Yoruba Land, in which many people are really curious to listen to. This course aims at showcasing different Yoruba Folklores (Alo Apagbe Ile Yoruba) which our fore-fathers used to entertain and educate the younger ones in their time. In a nutshell, folklore comes in form of a story!

The stories are very educative and amusing. In this course, we shall be fully covering the below folklores:

a) Tortoise makes the Partridge a bush-dweller (Ijapa so Aparo di Ero Igbo)

b) Tortoise and the Toad (Ijapa ati Akere)

c) Tortoise and the Palm-wine Tapper (Ijapa ati Baba Elemu)

d) Tortoise robbed Snail (Ijapa ja Igbin l’ole)

Provision has been made to afford people that do not comprehend Yoruba Language to enroll for the course, as each folklore has been fully subtitled in English. Moreover, at the end of the course, there is a glossary section that details and explains meanings of difficult expressions used in each story.
